ZIPTour^® Hybrid

The ZipTour® Hybrid combines the comfort and accessibility of the ZipRider® proprietary harness with the patented, rider-controlled braking technology of the ZipTour® trolley. This unique integration allows us to design longer, steeper, and more visually dramatic spans while maintaining a smooth, intuitive guest experience.

Because riders control their own speed, the ZipTour® Hybrid uses a single trolley for all guests—even on extremely long or steeper spans that require braking. This approach eliminates the need for multiple trolley types or weight specific equipment, while ensuring every rider can comfortably reach the bottom, slow down, and stop over the landing platform. At the launch platform, the trolley is mounted to the cable, and the harness is connected before riders are welcomed onto the deck, seated, and secured within the ZipRider® harness. Once the gates open, riders accelerate by pulling down on the handles, and as they approach the landing platform, they decelerate by pushing up on the handles to slow down and stop. After each ride cycle, the harness and trolley are packaged together and returned to the top via gondola or lift.

The Hybrid system’s unique combination of comfort and rider-controlled speed is what led United Launch Alliance (ULA) to select our technology for the Emergency Egress System at Space Launch Complex 41 in Cape Canaveral, Florida. The system provides astronauts and pad personnel with a rapid, controlled descent from the Crew Access Tower, enabling up to 20 riders to egress quickly and independently. Each rider modulates their own speed, allowing them to slow down, stop at the bottom, and clear the area before the next rider arrives—an essential requirement for emergency operations.
