Located above the village of Grindelwald in the Jungfrau region, the First Flieger sits in one of Switzerland’s most photographed landscapes—surrounded by the Eiger, Wetterhorn, and the sweeping Grindelwald valley. Millions visit the area each year for the Jungfraujoch “Top of Europe,” and the First Flieger adds a powerful dose of adrenaline to this world‑class alpine destination.
Your adventure begins with a scenic gondola ride on the Grindelwald Firstbahn, a multi‑stage lift that climbs through meadows, forests, and dramatic alpine terrain. From the First summit, riders walk a short distance to the launch platform, where four parallel cables stretch 800 meters (2,625 feet) down to the Schreckfeld station. From here, the views of the Eiger and surrounding peaks are nothing short of spectacular.
Once the gates open, riders accelerate to speeds of up to 84 km/h (52 mph), soaring as high as 50 meters (164 feet) above the alpine meadows below. The flight is fast, smooth, and breathtaking—an unforgettable descent through one of the most iconic mountain landscapes in the world.
The First Flieger received TÜV certification in 2008 and continues to operate with the highest Swiss and European safety standards. With four side‑by‑side lines, families and friends can ride together, making it one of the most popular adventure activities in the Jungfrau region.
