Located just 58 minutes from Albany International Airport and within a two‑hour drive of New York City, Jersey City, Newark, and Boston, Catamount is one of the most accessible four‑season resorts in New England. Straddling the New York–Massachusetts border, it sits five minutes from Hillsdale, NY, and fifteen minutes from Great Barrington, MA—making it an ideal day‑trip or weekend escape.
After guests are fitted with their equipment, watch the instructional video, and receive orientation from their guides, the adventure begins on the Demo Zip, where riders practice operating the self‑braking ZipTour® trolley. From there, the Ridge Quad Lift carries guests to the summit to begin the full ZipTour® experience.
The first span, the Ridge Zip, stretches nearly 1,000 feet from the mountain’s summit to the top of the Catamount ski trails. It’s a perfect warm‑up before stepping onto the launch platform of the Catamonster Zip—one of the longest ZipTour® spans in the world. From the top tower, riders enjoy sweeping tri‑state views of New York, Massachusetts, and Vermont, including a clear sightline to Mount Greylock (3,489 ft), the highest peak in Massachusetts.
The Catamonster Zip descends more than a mile in one continuous flight, dropping from the summit all the way to the base area and soaring over the resort’s snowmaking pond. Depending on rider speed, the flight lasts two to three minutes, offering a rare combination of distance, elevation, and panoramic scenery.
A short shuttle returns guests to the Main Lodge, completing a ZipTour® experience that highlights the terrain, scale, and natural beauty of Catamount Mountain Resort.
