Your adventure begins at Icy Strait Point, a remote cruise destination surrounded by the rugged beauty of the Tongass National Forest. After stepping ashore, a scenic gondola carries you through towering spruce and hemlock to a mountaintop launch platform overlooking Port Frederick, the village of Hoonah, and the island‑studded waters of the Inside Passage. From the platform, your cruise ship appears tiny against the vast coastline. When the gates open, you accelerate out and over the cliff, soaring nearly 300 feet above the old‑growth temperate rainforest with panoramic views of ocean, islands, and wilderness stretching to the horizon. The flight lasts about a minute and a half and ends on the beach at sea level—an unforgettable descent that many guests describe as the highlight of their entire Alaska cruise. Icy Strait Point proudly calls their ZipRider® “an experience of a lifetime.”
ZipRider reservations must be made through the cruise line you will be traveling with to Icy Strait Point.
